Interesting Fact on Petrol Hike...

Today I received this at work from Cecily.....an email forward of which i find it so true .... Below is the excerpt.

Malaysian PerCapita Income USD 5000 VS
Singaporean PerCapita Income USD 25000

Further The Star made a comparison of prices in Thailand , Singapore andIndonesia .
For Thailand it is quoted at RM3.90/liter, however are they aware that in Thailand new cars are cheaper than Malaysia by RM10,000? They pay only one life time for their driving license? No renewal fee after that? Also that goes for road tax as well? And do TheStar also aware that you can drive all the way from Hadtyai to Bangkok on a six lane highway without paying any Tolls ??!!

Whereas here in Malaysia you have to pay yearly renewal for road tax ,driving license and TOLLS, TOLLS, TOLLS!!!For Singapore how can you quote RM 5.20 ? Please quote in SingaporeDollars because they are earning in Sing Dollars. You might as well say Europeans are paying RM10/liter. RM5.20/liter = Sing $ 2.20/liter, still cheaper than Malaysia in view of fact that Singapore is not a crude oilexporter. Are you saying that you fill up petrol in Singapore by paying Ringgit?

In economy, dollar to dollar must be compared as apple to apple. Not comparing like durian in Malaysia is much cheaper than durian in Japan!! Of course-lah, Japan is not durian producer!!! Comparing Malaysian durian with Thailand durian make more sense!!

For Indonesia we might say is cheaper there at RM2.07/liter but compare that to their level of income! Now, let us compare the price with OIL PRODUCING countries: UAE RM1.19/litre Eygpt RM1.03/litre Bahrain RM0.87/litre Qatar RM0.68/litre Kuwait RM0.67/litre Saudi Arabia RM0.38/litre Iran RM0.35/litre Nigeria RM0.32/litre Turkmenistan RM0.25/litre Venezuela RM0.16/litre
MALAYSIA RM2.70/litreRM 2.70!!!

Individual perspective:As of last month a Toyota Vios would 'cause a damage' of about RM 89,000.In the international market, a Toyota Vios is about USD 19,000USD 19,000 = RM 62,700 (using the indicative rates of USD 1 = RM 3.30)That makes Malaysian Vios owners pay an extra RM 26,300.

This RM 26,300 should be cost of operations, profit and tax because the transportation costs have been factored in to the USD 19,000.RM 26,300/ RM625 petrol rebate per year translates to a Vios being used for 42.08 years.

I do understand that the RM 625 is a rebate given by the government, but it also means that one has to use the Vios for 42.08 years just to make back the amount paid in taxes for the usage of a foreign car. Would anyone use any kind of car for that long?

Now with these numbers in front of us, does the subsidy sound like a subsidy or does it sound like a penalty? This just seems to be a heavy increment in our daily cost of living as we are not only charged with high car taxes but also with a drastic increase in fuel price.

With all the numbers listed out, Let's analyze the situation further.

Car taxation is government profit, fuel sales is Petronas' (GLC) profit which also translates into government profit. The government may ridicule us Malaysians by saying look at the world market and fuel price worldwide. Please, we are Malaysians, we fought of the British, had a international port in the early centuries (Malacca), home to a racially mixed nation and WE ARE NOT STUPID!!!

We know the international rates are above the USD 130/barrel. We understand the fact that the fuel prices are increasing worldwide and we also know that major scientist are still contradicting on why this phenomenon is happening. Some blame Bush and his plunders around the world and some blame climate change and there are others which say petroleum'wells' are getting scarce.
Again we go back to numbers to be more straight forward.

1 barrel = 159 liters x RM2.70/liter = RM 429 or USD 134
On 1 hand, we are paying the full cost of 1 barrel of crude oil withRM2.70 per liter but on the other hand the crude oil only produces 46% of fuel.

Malaysia sells crude oil per barrel at USD130 buys back Fuel per barrel at USD134. And not forgetting, every barrel of fuel is produced with 2barrels of crude oil.
1 barrel crude oil = produce 46% fuel (or half of crude oil), therefore
2 barrel crude oil = approximately 1 barrel fuel
In other words, each time we sell 2 barrels of crude oil, equivalently we will buy back 1 barrel of fuel. Financially,
Malaysia sell 2 barrel crude oil @ USD 130/barrel = USD 260 = RM 858 then,
Malaysia will buy back fuel @ USD 134/barrel = RM 442/barrel
Thus, Malaysia earn net extra USD 126 = RM 416 for each 2 barrel of crude sold/exported vs imported 1 barrel of fuel !!! (USD 260-134 = USD 126 = RM416)

So where this extra USD 126/barrel income is channeled to by Malaysian Government??????

Another analysis:
1 barrel crude oil = 159 liters.
46-47% of a barrel of crude oil = fuel that we use in our vehicles.
46% of 159 = 73.14 liters.
@ RM 2.70/liter x 73.14 liter = RM 197.48 of fuel per barrel of crude oil.
This is only 46% of the barrel, mind you. Using RM 3.30 = USD 1, we get that a barrel of crude oil produces USD 59.84 worth of petrol fuel (46% of 1barrel). USD 59.84 of USD 130/barrel turns out to be 46% of a barrel as well.

Another 54% = bitumen, kerosene, and natural gases and so many more. And this makes a balance of USD 70.16 that has not been accounted for.

So this is where I got curious. Where is the subsidy if we are paying 46% of the price of a barrel of crude oil when the production of petrol/barrel of crude oil is still only 46%?

In actual fact, we still pay for this as they are charged in the forms of fuel surcharge by airlines and road taxes for the building of road (because they use the tar/bitumen) and many more excuse charging us butlet us just leave all that out of our calculations.

As far as I know, only the politicians who live in Putrajaya and come for their Parliament meetings in Kuala Lumpur (approximately 60+ km) are the ones to gain as they claim their fuel and toll charges from the money of the RAKYAT's TAX.

It is so disappointing to see this happen time and time again to theMalaysian public, where they are deceived by the propaganda held by the politicians and the controls they have over the press.

Which stupid idiot economist equates rebates for rich or poor with the cc of the vehicles? An average office clerk may own a second hand 1300cc proton Iswara costing $7,000 (rebate = $625) while the Datuk's children can own a fleet of 10 new cars of BMW, Audi and Volvo all less than 2000cc costing $2 millions and get a total rebate of $625 x 10 = $6,250! Wow what kind of economists we are keeping in Malaysia....wonder which phD certificate that they bought from...

Misleading concept of Subsidy:
The word 'subsidy' has been brandished by the BN government as if it has so generously helped the rakyat and in doing so incurred losses. This simple example will help to explain the fallacy:

Example: Ahmad is a fisherman. He sells a fish to you at $10 which is below the market value of $15. Let's assume that he caught the fish from the abundance of the sea at little or no cost. Ahmad claims that since the market value of the fish is $15 and he sold you the fish for $10, he had subsidised you $5 and therefore made a loss of $5.

Question : Did Ahmad actually make a profit of $10 or loss of $5 which he claimed is the subsidy?

Answer: Ahmad makes a profit of $10 which is the difference of the selling price($10) minus the cost price ($0 since the fish was caught from the abundance of the sea). There is no subsidy as claimed by Ahmad.

The BN government claims that it is a subsidy because the oil is kept and treated as somebody else's property (you know who). By right, the oil belongs to all citizens of the country and the government is a trustee for the citizens. So as in the above simple example, the BN government cannot claim that it has subsidised the citizen!

Apple with Strawberry..

The below article was extracted from The Sun on Wednesday dated 19th June 2008. The article is a letter written by one of the readers. The surname so coincidentally same with mine but it is not me hahaha...... But I shared his opinion which previously I wrote about in my blog.

Discovery....

I find this phrase interesting. It was taken from the christian calender that my friend gave to me when I left Australia for good, five years ago. I put that calender in my work desk every day. Today this particular phrase caught my attention deepest...

"You do not have to pay the price to grow and expand intellectually. The mind neither requires it nor demands it. If, however, you want to experience the joy of discovery, effort is required. Light wont automatically shine upon you, nor will truth silently seep into your head. Its up to you.

If the splendor of the stars is worth sitting outside in the dark, the joy of fresh discovery is worth sitting inside in the light."

I guess I do need to put more confident in myself.....to engage the discovery that I always been dreamt of. To take the first step to experience of how far my life can bring me......I should now put in more effort in building that faith and confidence to brave through this storm of discovery from my comfort zone....

Happy Father's Day...

Today is the father's day. It reminds me of my Dad. Time really flies.....it already been three years since my dad passed away. Dad, I miss you so much....

Today, I recalled many things since when I was small and all the time spent with my Dad. All the good memories came back, like how I would sometimes "bully" him and joke him hehehe....and some of the time he will shared with me his past experiences, and of course how he made those funny faces when he has to do something or take something that he doesnt like....

This father's day....it reminds me of this song. Father and Son...and so i searched in YouTube and found it. The original version from Cat Stevens...

Happy Father's Day Dad....I would continue to make you proud.

Music and lyrics "Way Back Into Love"

Music and lyrics "Way Back Into Love"
Video sent by dudette4ever

Watched this movie with Chris when I was in Holland....

Instantly it became one of my favourite and the song....I love it so much.

This is the moment when Alex and Sophie are making the demo for their song " Way Back Into Love", and then it's accepted by the superstar Cora!
In the movie, the song is cut, so I overlaid the real song from the soundtrack I bought that's why there's an accoustic effect!!
I totally love this song

Double Standard.....not surprising

A Gathering Day...

My gosh...lately is not really good days for me. I felt sick again with my tummy....or maybe I should said, it never got better. I hate it !!! You know there is one point of the year where you would always be in this sort of situation.....I would be so healthy for a year long and at point of time, i will be badly sick. That is the time, you will feel so vulnerable, weak and fragile.

Despite my tummy, I went to Kelly's wedding. Dont want to break my promise at the very last minute....A gentleman word hahaha. I hardly ate anything because I dont carry my apptetite with me. Ok...time to go to bed, tomorrow need to be in church early for duty.

Here are the photos that I took during the dinner...All the guys did not make it to the dinner, left me with the ladies hahaha....

Kevin, Trisha, Li Fang, Lisa
Three silly fella...

Lisa, all the best in Beijing, sorry did not able to make it to your wedding last time.

Me with Lih Shan...nice to have the chat again.

Trisha, I still thinking when will be the next "clubbing" session after the last one that you "aero-missed" haha Anyway, good to hear of your wedding plan...

Tits for Tats....

Everyone is still talking about the fuel price...a hot topic among Malaysian. Everywhere you go, people start to make fun of the current fuel hike. Then today read the paper, which stated that there would be an annual rebate of RM625. Now I am not sure how should i react to that. Should I be happy to hear that or relief ? Because I have neither one of those. I am not being such a pain...if you do the math correctly, this rebate roughly around 1 percent. Then I start to ask, what is the logic behind this rebate then....how can it helped to reduce the burden by 50 ringgit a month? Yeah that is right, so that you can use that 50 ringgit to the new hike in electricity.

Why all the time when we did a comparison, it will always be compared to the non-relevant parties? Like our economy....to show how good we are, they would compare with cambodia, indonesia, or other third world country. Why then we did not compare to Singapore, China, vietnam or any other countries? The statistic collected by that logic did not really show how "good" we are but just how lucky that this year did not fallen into a third world country category. Take this fuel hike for an example. "We are still among the cheapest in Asia"....that statement would definitely tells me that we are comparing again to a wrong group. Why an oil producing country be compared to a non-oil producing country? We should be compared to an oil producing countries....Interestingly, I found this actual statistic

UAE - RM1.19/litre
Eygpt - RM1.03/litre
Bahrain - RM0.87/litre
Qatar - RM0.68/litre
Kuwait - RM0.67/litre
Saudi Arabia - RM0.38/litre
Iran - RM0.35/litre
Brunei - RM1.10/litre
Nigeria - RM0.32/litre
Turkmenistan - RM0.25/litre
Venezuela - RM0.16/litre
MALAYSIA - RM2.70/litre

Ohh there we go...We are the highest in the oil producing group..... You do the judgement then.

Needless to speak and needless to say much. Numbers dont lie.....but people do.

Cheers.

Petrol price...up again

Not feeling well today....whole body ache and feeling feverish. The last time i think i had fever was last year....very long already. I skipped gym today and just rest....I think I needed a lot of rest. Lately, I find myself so tired and exhausted...just could not stop feeling tired...two days durinng the weekend not good enough i guess or did i ever rest ? hahaha

Today the news finally arrived....yes petrol price would go up because our government make a stand to not subsidised the petrol. It went up to RM 2.70 per litre now. That is a lot!!!! considering i am driving a kenari car, I have to pay close to 50% of increased in petrol prices. What is more, it is speculated that in august, it will went up to RM4 per litre. I start to wonder to cycle to work.....but then I might end up a dead man in the office later hahaha. The distance from my home to the office is 48KM...yeah and no public transport!!!!

Govt said that we still have the cheapest fuel price in Asia....but in Asia, how many of this countries actually have oil reserves at their own backyard? The number is rather limited. Then we should not compared with those countries because they are importing !!!! of course their price would be higher. We in Malaysia have 2 to 3 oil reserves, and yet we have to buy at market price.....you know it is like asking the son of a farmer to pay what is the market price of the fruits he reaps. By right, we should be having a lower price than anywhere else in Asia. Sweden without any oil reserves are paying RM6 per litre. But Sweden imported the oil...and so understood that the purchasing price would defintely gave way to the hike. But then if we have in august RM4 per litre....that is a real joke for a place where we owned oil ourselves.

I find it rather dissapointed and angry in a way. We have this tax on our cars which we pay more than anywhere else in Asia country and then we have this fuel price that is also according to market price....i find the govt is bullying us more than helping us. A kenari in Malaysia actually worth a Honda in Thailand....why? Because Thailand do not have the "duty" that they have to pay. If the govt is removing the fuel subsidy of the market price then they should also remove the tax on car sales, to exercise what they preached. I dont even want to go with the highway toll......if you want to compare with other countries....no need to look far, take Thailand for example. Free excess of their six lane highway!!! Not a single cents required to use this highway. We have to pay for our highway that is flooded!!!!

With this fuel increase, soon there will be more to come.....foods, basic commodity, transport, toll and others would follow suit. At the end of it, you would have the highest inflation in the region....May the Lord bless us then....

Suddenly I feel myself so right about my migration plan. Of course living overseas would also subjected to the fuel hike, but at least I have a good inter-connected public transport that is convenient and safe to use. At least their food is not that expensive...take Singapore for example, you still can get a bowl of noodles for SGD 2. Here a bowl of noodles of the same size cause you at least RM 3.50. That is inflation and standard of living.... I am not comparing currency but value for value with the assumption you earn the local currency.

Ok time to go to sleep now....

PS: Today saw a few petrol station running out petrol and closed. Cars are lining up to the station row by row causing massive jam.....This sort of scene can only be happening during petrol price increase hahaha

Countdown to Bali : 30 days

30 days to go for my Bali trip....couldnt wait already. So wish that it is already happening haha. Anne is rather too excited that she already planned on her annual leave during that trip. I have not taken yet....not sure if I want to .....but then again, I deserved a good break after 8 months of working non-stop.

I wonder how is it like in Bali. Everyone is basically telling me that it is a nice place of which I think I would love it since I am a beach person. Three bitches on the prowl at the beach hahaha... Never mind if you dont get it, I am just being silly. After hearing from Jesse, it makes me think twice again about the security in Bali.....haha. I dont like to be harrassed, definitely when people drag me to do stuff or buy stuff....I have a really short fuse in that area. I think it is not only me, Anne even went all out to ask us to buy extra travel insurance hahahaha....At first, I kinda refused but after giving it a second thought and hearing from this people comments, I just dont want to take chances hahaha. Well, it is better to play safe than sorry since all of us are first timer to Bali.

Fret not...for i am there to enjoy every single moment of it !!!!! Let's boogie!!!!

Flash flash....

Yesterday slept too late...today I almost couldnt make it to church. Well I did, only to find myself trying hard to stay awake haha.

Later after church, went to have lunch and then went to Low Yatt. I bought a new camera today yay...I actually want to buy Nikon slr but then I thought again, maybe it is not a good time for me to get one. For one thing, I am not good yet in photography and secondly, what if I found myself do not really into it as much as I should hahaha. So i end up in getting a compact camera. The sales person recommended Olympus. I used Olympus before and I am quite comfortable with their camera. So I bought the one with the 7x Optical zoom hehe.
Thank God i brought my sister along with me. She is so good at bargaining. I never been good in that area. Always I find exhausting and mind boggling to keep negotiate on the price. So most of the time, I always brought someone with me to do the dirty job for me hahaha. Pretty good, the whole price MYR 1140 and I got myself this camera, with 2GB Olympus XD card, 4GB xD Kingston, a bag and two chargeable batteries. Cheaper than the most the shops actually where they are selling 1199 with only free on the 2GB Olympus card. In a way i am happy. Now I am ready to go for my holiday. I think I will start snapping already this coming week haha.

Just now went to see "Superhero" with Nigel, my nephew. A comedy that used all the comic movie....something like they did before with the horror movie. Anyway, I find this comedy is very dry and only one hour show. Very short and the jokes are all so lame hahaha. Feel wasted my money and time for that movie. So dont go for it.

Ok so tired now....time to hit the bed. See ya!!

Casino...a place you win or lose....

I went for my facial today (Saturday), did the rejunevating treatment. I feel myself rejunevating from my wallet rather from my face hahahaha.....but anyway it worth a try. It does glow if i took a picture.

After my facial, I went for a dinner with my family. We went all the way up to Genting just to have our dinner. We had steamboat at Genting Permai. The soup is a prawn soup, not the usual chicken stock soup. A bit different but like always after I took steamboat, I definitely have to take supper hahaha...

Got pursuaded by my sister to buy the facial mask, the negative ion material....Well just see how good it is going to do for me.. I dont believe in direct selling or its product because there is always a side effect on their stuff. Anyway will see. The great moment of the dinner is when my sister and brother in law shared with us some of the malay jokes...

1. "Dalam dunia ini...binatang apakah yang paling kedekut"? ~ Kuda kerana bila dia berlari "kedekut kedekut" hahaha

2. "Dalam duina ini....binatang apakah yang paling seksi"? ~ Zebra...because ia memakai zip di bra hahaha

3. "Apaka kereta di dunia ini, tidak dipanggil kereta"? ~ taxi

4, "Sekiranya terdapat suatu kemalangan....drebar dan kereta semuanya sudah mati, tapi apakah yang tidak mati"? ~ road tax hahaha

After the dinner, we went to the Star World casino at First World Hotel. My god, I almost suffocated myself in there....so smokey, stench smell of smokes and bad ventilation. I went around tables to tables to see the game. I dont gamble because I do not have any interest in that sort of game. And see many people in the casino...full. Some looked cheerful but most of them looks like either they want to kill themselves or they wish to kill others. Very fierce looking and some look so sad. I told my sister...my goodness, it looks like loan shark business area.

How can the owner cannot be a millionnaire? The casino opened 24 hours a day.....hundred thousands or so people came in within that hours and spend maybe 1000 ringgit per pax (i am talking about average). You basically just need 10k people to come in a day to have a million. I see many money presented on the tables and over the counter. I started to ask myself....they put before them thousand of their hard earned money, how much did they expect to get in return? My answer to them is NIL. Because based on possibility wise, the moment you started the game....you have already lost 70%. This is not based on my opinion, it is based on some researched study in mathematical analysis of gambling. Meaning to say, you have only 30% of return if you are lucky. That could explain why the shark loan could easily make their business in the casino. I went around tables to tables, from one end to the other.....each table is always the banker will win more than the player, that is 1% for player and 99% for banker.

Sooo the wisest thing to do is to resists gambling. Of course many people would said it is just a game to release stress. For me, gambling is a big NO NO. I hate it and I dont agreed with anyone even to use gambling as a leisure. It is just not the type of thing I would have in mind.

Ok enough said.....got to sleep now. Cheerio.

p/s: Our new maid has finally arrived....oops our domestic helper. Finally, no more house chores....not that I did it all this while hahaha I am a spoilt brat!!!
